A specific construction quirk: bamboo viscose absorbs dye differently from cotton, so reactive dye lots can show a slight tone shift between pile and ground if the blend and pretreatment are not controlled. For white hotel towels this is less visible, but for ivory, stone, sage, or charcoal programs we recommend lab dips under D65 and TL84 light before bulk dyeing.

GSM, Size, And Weight Need To Agree

Hotels sometimes ask for a 700 GSM bamboo towel because the number sounds safer. In practice, the laundry may reject it after two months if drying time rises and shelf space tightens. We quote GSM together with finished size and actual piece weight, because those three numbers are tied together.

For example, a 76 x 152 cm bath sheet at 620 GSM has a fabric area of 1.1552 square meters. Before hem allowance and normal tolerance, the theoretical fabric weight is about 716 g. After finishing, a realistic piece weight may land around 730-765 g. That is a substantial towel. It can suit a resort suite, but it is not the same operating decision as a 70 x 140 cm bath towel around 520-560 g.

Finished-size tolerance for terry towels is normally +/-3% after washing, provided the buyer gives us the target after-wash dimension. If the purchase order only states cut size, the towel may measure smaller after laundering and create an avoidable dispute. We write both pre-wash and after-wash targets into the production sheet.

We are careful with performance claims because a hotel laundry is not a laboratory. We can report our internal wash results, but they are not a universal guarantee across every chemical recipe, dryer temperature, or tunnel washer.
