What a jacquard logo towel bulk pricing model must include
Jacquard is not a print added after weaving. The logo is built into the towel structure by lifting selected warp ends or pile yarns on the jacquard head, so pricing starts before the first towel comes off the loom. We cost the design file, yarn colors, GSM, width, loom speed, dye lot size, finishing loss, inspection labor, packing format, and export terms. If any of those are missing from the RFQ, the quote will either be padded or revised later.
At LUMA & CO. TEXTILE, our MOQ is 500 pcs per design / per color, but jacquard orders become more efficient above 1,500 pcs because the pattern programming and color yarn preparation are spread over more towels. We produce about 2.4M towels per year for 80+ brand clients, and jacquard runs are one of the areas where small spec changes can move FOB China price by USD 0.35 to USD 1.10 per piece.
| Cost line | What drives it | Typical share of FOB price |
|---|---|---|
| Yarn and dyeing | Cotton grade, color count, shade depth, yarn count | 38-52% |
| Weaving time | Logo repeat, towel width, GSM, loom speed | 18-28% |
| Jacquard setup | CAD conversion, loom file, trial weaving, waste | 4-11% |
| Finishing and washing | Desizing, softening, tumble drying, trimming | 7-13% |
| QC and packing | 100% visual check, carton packout, labels | 6-10% |
| Factory overhead and margin | Energy, labor, depreciation, compliance cost | 8-15% |
- Do not compare jacquard only by GSM. A 430 GSM yarn-dyed logo towel can cost more than a 520 GSM plain towel because the loom runs slower.
- Ask whether the logo is pile jacquard or border jacquard. A narrow border logo uses less pattern area than full-field repeat weaving.
- Confirm color count early. Two yarn colors are straightforward; three or four colors may require longer setup and higher yarn inventory.
- Separate artwork charge from unit price. Some suppliers hide setup in the piece price, which makes reorder pricing unclear.
The design choices that change loom efficiency
A woven logo towel MOQ is not only about total pieces. It is about how long the loom must stay tied to one pattern before the next order can run. A simple tone-on-tone logo in a 12 cm border is fast to balance. A large diagonal brand mark across the full body can create long floats on the reverse side, pile height variation, or a shadowed outline after washing. We normally review logo artwork at 1:1 scale and check the smallest stroke width before quoting final price.
The construction quirk buyers miss most often is the back-side inverse effect. In a two-color jacquard towel, the front may show a dark logo on a light ground, while the reverse shows the color relationship inverted. That is normal for many woven structures. If the buyer expects both sides to read the same way, we need a different construction and sometimes a heavier base to keep coverage stable.
| Design option | Factory impact | Best use case | Price effect vs plain dyed towel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Border jacquard logo | Shorter pattern zone, moderate setup | Hotels, spas, golf clubs | About +USD 0.28-0.55/pc |
| Full-body repeat logo | More jacquard movement, slower weaving | Beach clubs, retail lifestyle brands | About +USD 0.60-1.25/pc |
| Tone-on-tone jacquard | Lower shade risk, easier laundry matching | Luxury hospitality, spa programs | About +USD 0.35-0.75/pc |
| High-contrast two-color logo | More visual QC, stronger dye control needed | Sports teams, resorts, promotions | About +USD 0.50-1.05/pc |
| Three-color yarn-dyed jacquard | More yarn lots and loom balancing | Retail collections, limited capsules | About +USD 0.95-1.80/pc |
- Send vector artwork in AI, PDF, or SVG, not a low-resolution JPG pulled from a deck.
- Specify logo size in centimeters and whether it sits in the border, center, or full towel field.
- State if both sides must be acceptable for guest-facing use, because reverse readability affects construction.
- Approve a woven strike-off before bulk, not only a digital mockup, because pile direction changes the perceived logo edge.
Yarn-dyed cost is the biggest variable
Most jacquard towels use yarn-dyed cotton rather than piece-dyed fabric. That means we dye yarn cones first, then weave the towel. The benefit is a clear woven logo with better wash stability than a surface print. The cost issue is that dyed yarn has batch minimums, and leftover colored yarn is difficult to reuse unless the color is a standard hotel white, navy, charcoal, sand, or black.
For yarn dyed towel pricing, shade depth matters. A pale beige requires less dye chemistry than deep forest green or dense black. Dark colors also require stricter rinse control because loose dye can stain lighter pile during first laundering. For darker jacquard towels, our QC team normally checks ISO 105-C06 domestic and commercial laundering colorfastness and ISO 105-X12 rubbing fastness before bulk release. If a buyer wants OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I compliance, dyes and auxiliaries must be selected from approved sources, which can narrow the cheapest options.
| Material route | GSM range we quote most | MOQ practicality | Notes on cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100% ring-spun cotton | 420-620 GSM | 500 pcs possible, cleaner above 1,200 pcs | Good balance for resort and club towels |
| Combed cotton | 480-700 GSM | 800 pcs and up recommended | Smoother handfeel, higher yarn price |
| Cotton-poly blend pile | 360-500 GSM | 500 pcs possible | Faster drying, less plush, used for promo and gym |
| Zero-twist cotton jacquard | 520-680 GSM | 1,500 pcs and up recommended | Soft but more sensitive to snagging and pile distortion |
| Flat-weave hammam jacquard | 240-380 GSM | 500 pcs possible | Lower weight, different texture from terry pile |
- Ring-spun 21s/2 cotton is common for durable hotel and club jacquard towels.
- Combed 16s or 21s cotton improves surface smoothness but raises yarn cost by roughly 8-16%.
- Deep reactive dye shades add cost through dye chemistry, rinsing time, and wastewater handling.
- Unapproved substitute dyes can break OEKO-TEX claims, so we do not swap chemistry just to save a few cents.
Bulk price bands by order volume and spec
The following bands are realistic FOB China references from our 2026 costing desk, not a universal market quote. They assume a normal logo complexity, export carton packing, no individual gift box, and standard lead time. Actual custom jacquard towel cost changes with exchange rate, cotton yarn movement, and artwork complexity.
| Spec and size | 500-999 pcs | 1,000-2,999 pcs | 3,000-7,999 pcs | 8,000+ pcs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guest towel 40x70 cm, 420-480 GSM, border logo | USD 1.85-2.45 | USD 1.55-2.05 | USD 1.32-1.78 | USD 1.18-1.58 |
| Gym towel 35x100 cm, 380-460 GSM, repeat logo | USD 2.10-2.85 | USD 1.82-2.38 | USD 1.56-2.05 | USD 1.38-1.86 |
| Bath towel 76x152 cm, 520-620 GSM, border logo | USD 7.40-9.60 | USD 6.55-8.35 | USD 5.95-7.55 | USD 5.45-6.95 |
| Pool towel 80x160 cm, 450-560 GSM, full logo | USD 8.10-10.80 | USD 7.20-9.25 | USD 6.45-8.30 | USD 5.95-7.65 |
| Beach towel 90x170 cm, 360-480 GSM, yarn-dyed design | USD 8.85-12.20 | USD 7.95-10.65 | USD 7.15-9.45 | USD 6.60-8.75 |
For a buyer comparing 600 pcs against 3,500 pcs, the visible difference is usually not material cost; it is setup absorption. A border jacquard bath towel may carry USD 420-680 in programming, trial weaving, loom adjustment, and first-article inspection. At 600 pcs, that is roughly USD 0.70-1.13 per towel. At 3,500 pcs, it becomes about USD 0.12-0.19 per towel. This is why a jacquard logo towel bulk pricing model should show both the fixed setup and the unit price.
We push back when buyers ask us to make a 500 GSM full-body jacquard towel at a giveaway price. Dropping to a loose 330 GSM construction might save USD 1.40 on a beach towel, but if the towel twists after 18 commercial wash cycles instead of lasting 55 cycles, the cost per use gets worse. For example, a USD 6.30 towel used 50 times costs USD 0.126 per use. A USD 4.90 towel retired after 22 uses costs USD 0.223 per use before counting guest complaints or replacement freight.
Setup charges: what is fair and what is padded
Jacquard towel setup cost should be visible. We normally separate it into artwork engineering, loom file development, dyed yarn preparation, trial weaving, and sample finishing. If a supplier says setup is free on a 500 pc custom pattern, check whether the unit price is inflated or whether the factory is using a simplified border template instead of your actual logo scale.
At our mill, a standard jacquard development takes 7-10 days after artwork confirmation. CAD conversion maps the logo into weave points, then we run a small strike-off. The QC team checks logo edge clarity, pile height consistency, selvedge tension, and measurement after washing. One defect mode specific to jacquard is a broken outline where narrow strokes fall between repeat points. Another is reed mark visibility near dense logo zones when yarn tension is not balanced.
| Setup item | Typical charge or allowance | When it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Artwork engineering | USD 80-180 per design | More if logo needs redrawing or multiple placements |
| Jacquard loom file | USD 120-260 per design | Higher for full-body repeat or three-color work |
| Yarn dye lab dip | USD 45-90 per color | Deep shades or custom Pantone matching cost more |
| Strike-off sample | USD 60-150 per version | Charged again if artwork changes after weaving |
| Bulk pre-production sample | Usually included above 1,500 pcs | May be charged on 500 pc trial orders |
- A fair quote names the setup charge separately or clearly states that it is amortized in the piece price.
- A padded quote avoids construction details and gives one high number for every quantity tier.
- A risky quote promises no setup fee, no sample fee, and a complex logo at 500 pcs with no explanation.
- A reorder quote should drop the loom file charge unless the towel size, logo scale, or yarn colors change.
Lead time and approval calendar
Bulk towel production lead time for jacquard is longer than plain dyed towels because color yarn and loom setup sit before weaving. A repeat order using existing yarn colors can move faster. A new seasonal resort color with Pantone approval takes more time, especially if the buyer needs lab dips shipped across time zones.
- Day 1-2: RFQ review, size/GSM check, logo placement confirmation, and first costing.
- Day 3-6: yarn color lab dip or stock color selection; Pantone matching if required.
- Day 7-14: jacquard CAD file, loom trial, strike-off weaving, washing, and measurement check.
- Day 15-20: buyer review and signed sample approval; delays here usually move the ship date.
- Day 21-42: yarn dyeing, weaving, finishing, trimming, inspection, packing, and carton marking.
- Day 43-48: final random inspection, export document preparation, and vessel or air booking.
For 500-1,000 pcs, we normally quote 25-35 production days after sample approval. For 3,000-8,000 pcs, 35-50 days is more realistic, depending on loom allocation and yarn dye house capacity. During March-May and September-October, resort and retail orders compete for the same jacquard loom time, so placing the PO one week earlier often prevents a two-week shipping problem.

Quality tests that protect the price decision
A low quote is not useful if the logo looks sharp in the carton and blurred after the first laundry. We test jacquard towels differently from printed towels because the logo is part of the fabric structure. The important checks are dimensional change after washing, pile retention, colorfastness, yarn contamination, and visual logo registration.
For hospitality and pool programs, we recommend washing the pre-production sample at least 5 cycles before final signoff. In our internal record, we log width shrinkage, length shrinkage, GSM after conditioning, loose pile count per towel, and any contrast bleeding in the logo area. For stronger programs, buyers add third-party testing under ISO 105-C06 for washing, ISO 105-X12 for rubbing, and AATCC 61 if their laundry partner uses North American protocols. We manufacture under ISO 9001 process control and hold OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I, BSCI, and related compliance documentation for brand audit files.
- Acceptable shrinkage is commonly within 3-5% after controlled washing, depending on construction and GSM.
- Logo edge clarity should be judged after washing, not only on the loom-fresh sample.
- Color transfer risk is highest where dark yarn sits against white or cream pile.
- Pile pull issues appear more often when long floats are used to force fine logo detail.
- Carton compression can flatten pile temporarily, so final inspection should include recovery after opening.
FOB, packing, and landed-cost traps
Most of our jacquard quotes are FOB Ningbo or FOB Shanghai, with carton dimensions stated before shipment. For towels, freight cost is driven by volume as much as weight. A 90x170 cm beach jacquard towel packed 20 pcs per export carton may look efficient at the factory, but if the carton is oversized or underfilled, the buyer pays for air inside the container. For air shipments, carton volume can be worse than product weight.
Private label packing also changes the math. A woven label is usually minor. A belly band, recycled paper sleeve, or individual polybag with suffocation warning adds material and labor. For retail, we need barcode rules, carton assortment, and carton drop-test expectations before quoting. For hospitality, we usually recommend bulk carton packing with inner bundles because laundry teams remove retail packaging immediately.

RFQ checklist for a clean quote
The fastest way to get accurate pricing is to send a complete RFQ instead of asking for a generic jacquard towel price. We can quote from a reference photo, but the first number will carry assumptions. Once the buyer confirms size, GSM, logo placement, yarn colors, packing, and inspection level, the quote becomes something procurement can compare line by line.
- Towel size in centimeters, target GSM, and allowed tolerance for both.
- Construction type: terry jacquard, border jacquard, flat-weave jacquard, or hammam style.
- Artwork file, logo size, color references, and whether reverse-side appearance matters.
- Order quantity by design and color, remembering our MOQ is 500 pcs per design / per color.
- Certification needs: OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I, BSCI, ISO 9001, or buyer-specific audit documents.
- Packing method, carton marking, barcode rules, and whether the quote should be FOB, CIF, or DDP.
- Testing plan, including wash cycles, colorfastness standard, and pre-shipment inspection level.
For a practical starting point, send the artwork and target quantity to [email protected] or WhatsApp +86 13205717266. If your buyer team is still negotiating quantity, ask us for two tiers: a true 500 pc trial price and the efficient reorder tier above 2,000 pcs. That prevents the first PO from hiding the long-term economics.
